Samsung launched the Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 in New York on Thursday night and revealed to Fin24 that the smartphones will be available in South Africa in September and November respectively.

The unibody Galaxy Note5 is thinner and comes with a new S Pen and multi-window capabilities. Discover cardmembers will obtain access to Samsung Pay in 2016.

The S6 Edge Plus has a curved screen on one side of the phone and is set to cost over €800 in Ireland. The new S Pen is longer, has higher pressure sensitivity and better writing performance over its predecessors. Pricing and availability will be announced soon. Well, if you have to support a 5.7 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, you ought to have a monster of a battery. Unfortunately for many Samsung fans, both large-screened smartphones also come with the same caveats that we saw with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. As for the Galaxy S6 edge+, this supersized phablet is now more attractive to multimedia enthusiasts. Samsung Pay works with most existing credit or debit card terminals, which means it is the only mobile payment service that works nearly everywhere you can swipe your card.

We’re talking about Samsung Pay, the company’s new mobile payments system, which is a response to Apple Pay and, if you ask us, an alternative to Android Pay.

In an interesting move that harks back to pre-touchscreen only phones, Samsung has unveiled a physical keyboard accesory (shown here on the Galaxy S6 edge+) that simply fits over the bottom of the screen.

The Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy Note 5 will be available in stores August 21 in the U.S. and in Canada.

Samsung also launched Samsung Pay to compete with Apple, Google Inc. and other mobile payment services.
