The FAA Is Considering a Ban on Samsung’s Exploding Smartphones
Telstra is a little more specific in its support notes, advising that customers wishing to use a temporary replacement phone can choose between the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge or the significantly lower-powered Samsung J1 Mini smartphone. In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue. Reports from Credit Suisse outlines that Samsung Electronics gets almost $600 of revenue and $108 of operating profit for each Note 7 it sells.

According to media reports, Samsung will recall almost 2.5 million Note 7s sold so far, amounting to a almost $1 billion loss to the company, which has a market capitalisation of 260 trillion won ($235 billion).
In India, Samsung continued to lead the smartphone market with a 25.1 per cent share, another global research company, International Data Corporation (IDC), reported last month.
The company said anyone with a new Note can take advantage of the UK Galaxy Note 7 Exchange Programme.
On Friday, two weeks after launch, Samsung recalled Galaxy Note 7 smartphones in 10 markets including South Korea and the United States after finding its batteries were prone to ignite, and halted sales of the 988,900 won ($891) device in those markets indefinitely.
“Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident report from our valued customers very seriously”.
While there have so far been no reports on a Galaxy Note 7 exploding while being used with the Gear VR or a Gear VR catching fire while paired with the Galaxy Note 7, Oculus is understandably not taking any chances. At the time of the incident, Crushader was using the Samsung-made stock USB Type-C charger that comes with the device. The Galaxy Note 7 unit had performed as admirably as always and showed no trouble or excess heat with charging, then suddenly exploded during charging on the night in question.
“(It) charred the hotel room bed sheet and the carpet when I whacked it down to the floor, burnt one of my fingers while doing that too”.
The user has been offered a replacement device, and Samsung has confirmed that it is arranging to cover the bill for damages to the hotel room.
Samsung is working with partners and operators to voluntarily replace the current device with a new one starting 19 September. The official recall was last week, so if you purchased a Galaxy Note during its release, go for the replacement.
