ICC withdraws two-tier Test proposal under pressure from BCCI
“The meeting with the PM was very encouraging”, the ICC CEO said.

Once suspended from membership, a country does not receive any funding from the ICC.
BCCI to question Lodha panel directive in SC today and oppose ICC move in Dubai tomorrow. “The meeting finalised the names of the seven members unanimously”, Dahal added. “We told him about the enormous talent that Nepali cricket has”. According to sources, Minister Sripali proposed the names of MoYS Joint Secretary Chooda Mani Paudel and former CAN vice-president Deepak Koirala, while ICC floored the names of former CAN President Binay Raj Pandey, General Secretary of elected committee Ashok Nath Pyakurel and General Secretary of ad hoc committee Pawan Agrawal. In the latest salvo, the BCCI has threatened to withdraw the Indian team from the next year’s Champions Trophy in England after being excluded from the ICC’s finance committee meeting held a few days ago in Dubai.
The ICC, which was supposed to announce the names of the officials, could not do so after Chand-led faction did not agree with the formation of the Advisory Committee. “We still have to finalize the names of the group which will be announced within the next two weeks”, Chief Executive Richardson said. Shirke, who is supposed to represent the BCCI at the ICC meet, had apparently gone to pick the brains of Srinivasan over the matter.
“It is clear that there is a ground swell of opinion around the world that the current structure of global cricket is not serving the game globally, and that the status quo is not good enough for the long term future success of cricket” Tony Irish, FICA Executive Chairman said.
Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Thakur said the proposal was “fundamentally against the basic objective and identity of the ICC”. “This is ICC’s double standard. If the elections are held under that revised constitution, everyone will be happy, there will be no need of government interference and the ICC will reinstate Nepali cricket”. What many in BCCI find baffling is the huge cost escalation for a 19-day tournament in United Kingdom considering it will host only 15 matches, compared to the World T20 in India, which was a 27-day event with 58 matches in all (35 men’s and 23 women’s matches). “Even if we take into account that the costs will be more in the United Kingdom, as expenditure will be in Pounds, there are more overheads in India, including logistics as you need to take flights from one city to another which is not the case in England”. Chand also accused the ICC of projecting an individual as future president without naming the official. “We are determined to make sure that Nepali cricket and the teams don’t have to suffer”.
The two-day meeting at ICC headquarters will take in radical proposals that have been under discussion for nearly a year now.
It wanted world cricket’s governing body to serve it a caveat, warning of action against government interference.
The BCCI is still not decided if Shirke should be there for the ICC meeting, meant for the chief executives of the boards.

It wanted to incorporate and highlight potential ICC action in the review petition it filed in the Supreme Court in August. The third AGM of CAN on December 14 past year had elected the 17-member executive committee under Chand.
