Dodge Will Make an All-Wheel-Drive Challenger Hellcat Next Year
The near future is still looking good for the Dodge brand – thanks to new addition such as the Charger Daytona – and the introduction of new special models such as an all-wheel drive Challenger and Challenger Hellcat. FCA, however, will cease production of the Viper sports auto in August 2017. It’s unclear if Dodge intends to offer an all-wheel-drive Charger Hellcat as a companion to the Challenger ADR.

Regardless of which engine is packed under the hood, the production Dodge Challenger GT AWD is expected to have a slightly different body from the rear-drive Challengers, with a widebody design that incorporates wheel flares at all four corners for added clearance over what would likely be wider wheels and tires.
The Challenger will see three new versions, one of which will be an AWD V6. It seems possible the Challenger ADR could debut the same time as the Hellcat-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee, seeing as they will both be Hellcat-powered products with AWD.
Before they move over to a lighter platform, Dodge’s muscle cars are in for a few changes, the largest of which is an all-wheel drive system for the Challenger. The Challenger will also shift onto this platform in 2018.

While the Challenger and Charger get less powerful engine options too, the 6.2-litre, supercharged, Hemi SRT Hellcat V8 engine takes the cake. The two-door convertible will, “share the Charger/Challenger platform”, according to Automotive News. Or download our app from the iOS or Android app stores today.
