Reliance Jio 4G full services, Postpaid and Tariff plans announced today

While a few customers were frustrated with limited stocks and activation issues, based on the rush and hysteria of customers, analysts suggested that the telecom unit of Reliance industries may look to slash or even extend its free offer on data after January 1, 2017 in a bid to boost customer volumes.

Reliance Jio yesterday said it has intimated the Telecom Department, Trai and security agencies regarding the commencement of its wireless telecommunication services in all 22 service areas from 5 September, 2016.

“At the time of taking the SIM, consumers will have to choose plans – pre-paid or postpaid – and they will continue to get free services till December 31, after which tariff plans opted for will become applicable”, sources said.

“The onus is rightly on the incumbent operators not to misuse their market power by creating unfair hurdles, when it comes to providing points of interconnect between their networks and Jio’s network”. This comes to Rs 67 per GB. The lowest rate that Jio is offering is Rs 67/GB, that too in a monthly plan of Rs 4,999, which is very expensive. As per the Reliance Jio preview offer consumers will be able to get access to unlimited HD Voice calling, Video calling, unlimited SMS, unlimited High-Speed Data services, and access to Jio Apps for free for a period of 90 days. The Rs 149 plan, available for both prepaid and postpaid users, will offer 300 MB data and 100 SMSes with a validity of about a month.

The carriers put forth the example of the Rs 299 plan offering only 2GB of data, which sums down to Rs 150 per GB. You will need a VoLTE capable phone to make Jio sim work.

Ever since we’ve been hearing about the Jio network and the network services, one of the questions that most of the users have in mind is whether they can use the Mobile Number Portability option to switch to Jio network on the same phone number that they have on Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, Tata Docomo or any other network.

The company also asked the incumbents to provide mobile number portability facility to Jio – which allows a customer to migrate from one subscriber to another, while retaining the existing telephone number – now that commercial services have been announced.

That’s it. Follow the above three steps and get your sim ported for free without changing your number. You can go to the nearest Reliance Mobile store, fill in the required documents along with your porting code.
