Those young players were on display in a win on Saturday and will try to guide the Twins to a series victory when they host the Chicago White Sox in the finale of a four-game set on Sunday.Minnesota hoped to get more out of the likes of Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton earlier in the season but can at least be encouraged by their play of late after both homered in Saturday’s 11-3 triumph. He gave up 11 hits and two walks, but allowed just two runs as the Twins snapped their 13-game losing streak, one off the franchise record for a season. The right-hander has allowed 30 earned runs in 39 2/3 innings over his past seven starts, including an August 17 complete game in Atlanta where Gibson allowed three earned runs. Only Ervin Santana (3.54) and Hector Santiago (4.93) have better numbers among Minnesota starters, although Santiago’s ERA in five starts since being acquired at the trade deadline is 8.17. “It’s been kind of frustrating ever since in Atlanta”. “I think we can all appreciate the third one a little more because we were up by a little bit and it wasn’t as close of a game. It’s been a couple times this year where I feel like I’ve been on the verge of kind of figuring something out and then a big inning happens or a bad start happens”.
Dozier leads the majors with 21 homers since the All-Star break. The left-hander cruised through this one after allowing a leadoff home run to Adam Eaton. The homer was a leadoff shot off White Sox RHP James Shields in the first inning, his third leadoff homer of the season and 16th of his career, four shy of the club record of 20 held by Jacque Jones. Sale is 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings in four starts against Detroit this season.
Buxton is 6 for 10 with five runs, five RBIs and two homers without a strikeout in three games since his latest call-up from Triple-A.
Chicago White Sox second baseman Carlos Sanchez (5) hits a ground rule double during the sixth inning to drive in the go ahead run against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.
2B Brian Dozier went 2-for-4 with a single, a home run and two stolen bases. Eaton had an RBI single and Melky Cabrera a two-run single in the ninth.
Only Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew has hit more homers in a single season in Twins history. The Twins won 8-5 on Thursday in the opener and the White Sox responded with an 11-4 win on Friday night. Dozier hits another homer.
“We did take advantage of some mistakes, and we were able to pile up some pretty good offensive nights from a handful of guys”, Twins manager Paul Molitor said.
White Sox: SS Tim Anderson, who left Thursday’s game with a bruised right calf, did not play. Anderson has a hit in eight of his last nine games, going 12 for 37 during that stretch for a.324 batting average.
Royals: OF Lorenzo Cain missed his fifth straight game because of left wrist inflammation.

Quintana (11-10) allowed seven runs and seven hits in five innings and saw his ERA rise to 3.05. Santiago threw 6 1/3 scoreless innings Monday in Cleveland after going 0-4 with a 10.89 ERA in his first four starts with the Twins.
