Wounded Atlantic City cop shows improvement, report says
A POLICE officer has been shot in a casino shooting that has left one person dead, in Atlantic City.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday after two officers witnessed a robbery happening outside the parking garage at Caesar’s Casino.
The wounded officer, whose name was not released, was taken to nearby AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
Martell Chisholm, 19, of Millville, New Jersey, and Demetrius Cross, 28, of Bridgeton, N.J., each are charged with two counts of attempted murder, robbery and weapons offenses, Acting Atlantic City Prosecutor Diane Ruberton said late Saturday.
One officer was shot while exiting the patrol vehicle.
The shooting happened after the two officers, who were in a marked patrol auto, stopped on Arkansas Avenue, between Atlantic and Pacific Avenues, after spotting a group of males on the street “who were involved in some sort of criminal activity”, Fair said. Weick, along with the other Miss America contestants, are in Atlantic City ahead of the 2017 “Miss America” pageant on September 11.
One suspect was shot dead and the officer ended up in surgery with a gunshot wound to the head. That suspect was found about a block and a half away.
All five persons of interest sought by law enforcement have been located and identified. They are in the custody of Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. “This is an active investigation”, the department said on Twitter.
“At this point I don’t know what the reason for the initial stop was”, White said, “but as the officers were getting out of the auto, the males opened fire on our officers, striking one”. That officer was hospitalized. 1 suspect shot and killed.
Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian, at a storm-related news conference Sunday, thanked Atlantic County officials for their assistance after the shooting.

As the injured officer continues fighting for his life – the New Jersey Cop Shot Program offered up a $20,000 reward for information in the case.
