Trump has often been known to go after moderators, namely Megyn Kelly of Fox News.

The second presidential debate “will take the form of a town meeting, in which half of the questions will be posed directly by citizen participants and the other half will be based on topics of broad public interest as reflected in social media and other sources”.

The final debate between Clinton and Trump is scheduled for October 19 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Wallace, who joined Fox News from ABC News in 2003, has a reputation for being tough on both sides of the political spectrum, which likely made him acceptable to commission co-chairs Frank J. “Because of our experiences in 2008 and 2012, we well understand what is required of us, and we are confident in our ability to execute an excellent debate in conjunction with the CPD”, Hofstra said in a statement at the time.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will meet in three presidential debates in the coming months.
