The camera captures enough information to provide an AR-like experience, enabling the user to see and interact with physical objects.

HTC Vive has a wireless receiver that connects wirelessly to the PC using local Wi-Fi connection.
The award-winning headset has to be physically connected to the personal computer (PC) in order to function. Anyone willing to splash out full price for a virtual reality headset, as well as the thousands of dollars for a compatible PC or laptop, is expected to have done so, meaning the only way the VR market can grow is to reach out to more mainstream or lower-spending consumers.
Sales of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive VR headsets have flatlined in the U.S. according to figures from digital gaming platform Steam, despite stock problems no longer being an issue.
“The way the headset will become wireless is through a small gadget, connected to the headset, but not wired with cables to the PC itself”, Quark VR said. Quark met with Valve representatives during a recent stay at a Silicon Valley incubator, and the company says Valve was interested in cooperating with them to bring the wireless VR headset to life. Quark VR wrote in a blog post.
Valve has teamed up with a new virtual reality firm to create a wireless version of its Vive device – and the solution could be with us sooner than you might think. “However, a lot of them were quite disturbed by the cables in their feet or above their head”, the company continued.
