Why is Samsung recalling all Galaxy Note 7 handsets? The company promised to “voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks”.
If you’ve already bought the Galaxy Note 7 then you are eligible for Samsung’s Product Exchange Programme.
Owners of the phone in Canada can exchange a recalled device for a new one of the same model. Turns out the hyper-powered has a few batches built with faulty batteries inside. At least two incidents have been reported. The user posted photos of the burnt device on Baidu, a popular Chinese forum. A handful of Galaxy Note 7 users scattered across the globe have reported the same problem.
“Based on our investigation, we have learned that there was an issue within the battery cell”. He says Samsung has agreed to pay the bill.
“The safety and satisfaction of customers is our top priority and by working closely with our partners and operators, we are taking a proactive approach to address the needs of Galaxy Note 7 customers in the UK”, said Conor Pierce, vice president of IT and mobile of Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland.
An Australian man was left with burns when his Samsung smartphone “exploded” as he slept in his hotel room, reports China’s Xinhua news agency. Further details on the recall and on the replacement program are not yet known.

The company’s action was not an official recall, which would have involved the Consumer Product Safety Commission [CPSC] and would have made it illegal to sell the phones. Samsung UK in a statement said: “If you have pre-ordered your Galaxy Note7 and you are waiting for delivery: we apologise that you have not received your new Galaxy Note7”. A design flaw in the Note 5 created issues when the phone’s stylus was inserted into the phone incorrectly.
