Both men intend to continue that trend throughout the National Football League season.

The San Francisco 49ers quarterback now has the fifth-best selling jersey on NFL.com, less than a year after it was put on clearance sale. 49ers teammate Eric Reid joined Kap on one knee during the team’s preseason finale.

Two of those prominent supporters have recently worn his apparel.

This letter is in response to Tom King’s article about Colin Kaepernick’s refusing to stand while the National Anthem is playing.

The outgoing president recognized Kaepernick’s sincerity and said he would rather have young people engaged in the democratic process than not paying attention at all.

Cole and Songz are the latest, but likely not the last, performers to use their platform to extend the conversation. There are the issues Kaepernick wants people to talk about – very real issues – and then there is the issue with the actual protest itself.

Rapinoe said her gesture was meant to show solidarity with Kaepernick and the issues he wants addressed.

Obama said he has not closely followed the controversy surrounding Kaepernick’s actions while he has been overseas, but he said he was aware of the public response, which has been sharply divided.

Many Americans have denounced the gesture as a sign of disrespect to the flag, though he has drawn support from some people, including some fellow players and Megan Rapinoe, a star of USA women’s national soccer team.

“He reached out to me and just told me thank you, standing behind me”, Lane told reporters Monday, via the San Jose Mercury News. “But my understanding, at least, is that is he’s exercising his constitutional right to make a statement”. She is also an avid WWE fan. Many Americans have denounced his actions, but a handful of other football players have joined him in making the same protest, as did a US women’s soccer player on Sunday. “That doesn’t make sense to me, because if that was any other person, you’d be in prison”.

‘We have a lot of people that aren’t treated equally, that aren’t given equal opportunities.

Kaepernick’s decision has further highlighted the ongoing issue of police brutality against minorities.
