Everton pulled Sissoko deal out of loyalty to McCarthy

Tottenham Hotspur keeper Hugo Lloris is quite happy with the club’s signing of his compatriot Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle.

Sissoko becomes the third player to join Tottenham on deadline day, following Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Pau Lopez in moving to White Hart Lane.

He signs a five-year deal at the club after flying over from training with the French worldwide squad to complete the move.

Sissoko had been preparing for France’s friendly in Italy on Thursday.

Everton signed eight first-team players over the course of the summer, including a deal worth up to £30m to take DR Congo worldwide winger Yannick Bolasie from Crystal Palace.

“But I was in London, waiting to sign my contract (with Spurs)”.

Sissoko, who may have work to do to win over Tottenham fans, having reportedly spoken in previous interviews about his love for his new team’s north London rivals Arsenal, said he was “very proud” to join Spurs.

“It is true that Wednesday was rather quick, and it happened in the last hours, but the bottom line is this is done, I have finalised my transfer to Tottenham”.

Sissoko turned in several impressive displays at Euro 2016 earlier this summer, which did not harm for his hopes of a transfer away from the Championship.

However, it has since been revealed that in Sissoko’s mind, Tottenham was only ever the likely destination. “Now we have a squad where every player who is here wants to work together to fight for the club”. In any case, I’m very happy and relieved. “This man is a legend for what he’s done in football and he can’t even pick the phone up and say ‘I don’t really want to sign for you, sorry!'” “At the moment he is maybe a bit shy but that’s normal because it’s new for him”. “I like to run forward, I like power and I have a lot of energy which I can bring to the team”.
