PM announces to set up university in Chitral, complete Lowari tunnel

Earlier upon his arrival in Chitral, the prime minister was received by Advisor to the Prime Minister Edgier Amir Muqam and other elders of the areas besides Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders of Chitral in large number.

He said all such projects would be completed by 2018. “Over 55 billion uplift schemes have been okayed for Chitral which would usher in a new era of development in Chitral”, the MNA said.

The prime minister will inspect under-construction Lowari Tunnel to be completed at a cost of over Rs 8 billion in March next year.

Lowari Tunnel will link Chitral with the rest of the country in all weather conditions.

With the completion of Lowari Tunnel, distance between Peshawar and Chitral will be reduced to seven hours from the existing 14 hours.

People were asking for votes on the name Lowari Tunnel project now it’s going to be completed in PML-N government, he said.

The prime minister also announced and inaugurated several development projects, including a broadband sustainable development project for Chitral and Shangla, and the expansion and fix of the 25-kilometre-long Bon Bozand Torkho highway.

The prime minister further said that Project was started on 1955 in Chitral.

Speaking at the public gathering here, PM Nawaz announced to establish a university in Chitral, adding that he would himself supervise it. He added that many universities will also be made in the area. All projects are being constructed for prosperity of the country.

Addressing the public meeting, District Nazim Chitral thanked the Prime Minister for visiting Chitral. He urged the party elected candidates to serve the masses.
