Andhra needs hand-holding by Centre, in view of the disadvantage it has got because of the way the state was bifurcated.

The Centre, however, is said to have assured the state government that the special package will be “nothing less” than the special status barring the phrase.
The government of Andhra Pradesh has devised a new plan to boost its Digital Andhra Pradesh project.
Also, Actor and Politician Pawan Kalyan has aimed at centre and state with “Athma Gourava Sabha” scheduled on 9th September in Kakinada. “We have examined special category status demand of Andhra Pradesh”.
“Extremely grateful to Prime Minister & Finance minister for giving best possible solution for speedy & all round development of Andhra Pradesh (sic)”, he said in another tweet. After day-long suspense and hectic consultation in the national capital, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced on Wednesday night that the state will get monetary advantage equivalent to what it would have got if it was accorded the special category status.
Jaitley said the Centre already released Rs 3,975 crore towards revenue deficit of 2014-15 and balance will be released in instalments.
The finance minister announced that Polavaram major irrigation project on Godavari river had been declared as a national project and the entire expenditure with effect from April 1, 2014, would be borne by the Centre.
To begin with, Assam, Nagaland and Jammu & Kashmir enjoyed the status but later eight states of Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Tripura and Uttarakhand were added.

“Because of the constraints as per the 14th Finance Commission report, we might not be in a position to grant special category status to AP”.
