‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8 spoilers: Michael Trevino set for return

It was executive producer and writer Julie Plec who first hinted that Nina Dobrev shall indeed be returning in the final season of “The Vampire Diaries” so that they can tie all loose ends and give the show a fitting closure.

It’s amusing because there was once a time when Tyler Lockwood was more of a villain on the show.

So what brings back Tyler to Mystic Falls? She later returned for a cameo in season 7. And no, it’s not so that he can attend his ex Caroline’s (Candice King) wedding to Stefan (Paul Wesley) or anything like that.

Hopefully, this will not be the last time we see the Tyler character show up on the series, given that he always received the short end of the stick in terms of receiving an ending that he more or less deserved. Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) mind was being altered by the Phoenix Stone, but Tyler still didn’t appreciate being put into a coma.

Meanwhile, Matt Davis’ Alaric Saltzman is set to have a new love interest in the upcoming season of “The Vampire Diaries“. Entertainment Weekly reports that Tyler will make his comeback in episode 3 (which will air November 4), and Damon will likely still be under the influence of something evil.

Fans are having mixed emotions with Nina Dobrev’s return in “The Vampire Diaries” season 8.

“We will find out why and what they’re driven by and it’s something to do with this new supreme evil that has been lurking in the vault, that has escaped the vault”, Marlarkey teased to Showbiz Junkies last month. If you recall, Tyler Lockwood wasn’t a nice guy to start with. Swoon! Once these two got together, Tyler totally won our hearts too. The season 6 finale marked his farewell, though he popped up briefly in season 7 as the man responsible for keeping Elena’s comatose body safe. CW president Mark Pedowitz confirmed that the network was negotiating with the actress, but nothing has been finalized.

There are wild speculations going around that with the impending return of actress Nina Dobrev in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, it has reportedly put a strain on the marriage of Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore in the TV series, and his real-life wife, Nikki Reed.

That we don’t know, but EW reports that Trevino will be back in the third episode of the season, so that’s something!
