The Townsville Bulletin reports that police have charged the players, including one starter and worldwide, with two counts of wilful damage each after they were intercepted by officers.
A number of vehicles received minor damage in the alleged incident.
The Cowboys informed the NRL integrity unit, who will only step in if they believe any punishment handed out by the club is not adequate.
The 23-year-old New Zealand worldwide could be stood down, however the minor nature of the charge is likely to see him slapped with a fine and a warning.
The group of five were reportedly charged with two counts of willful damage for throwing eggs at five parked cars, just days out from the NRL finals.
It will further be alleged a number of eggs and egg cartons were located in the vehicle.
Taumalolo has played five Tests for the Kiwis and has developed into one of the Cowboys’ strike weapons since his debut in 2010 as a 17-year-old.
North Queensland is yet to clarify whether he will keep his place in the team for Saturday night’s clash.

New Zealand worldwide Taumalolo, 23, was the only player among the group named to play the Melbourne Storm in Saturday night’s qualifying final, according to the Townsville Bulletin.
