Gretchen Carlson’s Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Settled For $20 Million

On her Facebook page, Van Susteren tweaked Fox News for sending her GretaWire fans to the FoxNews.com site after her abrupt departure. According to Vanity Fair, Fox News has not only settled with Carlson, but with two other women who said that Ailes had sexually harassed them.

Ailes, 76, denied Carlson’s allegations when the lawsuit was filed.

No. 1 New York Times best-selling author Jerome Corsi’s newest blockbuster, “Partners in Crime: The Clintons’ Scheme to Monetize the White House for Personal Profit”, is available only at the WND Superstore!

The revelations put the Murdoch family, which controls 21st Century Fox and its sister company News Corp.

In a statement Ms Carlson said she was grateful Fox took swift action. “I’m ready to move on to the next chapter of my life, in which I will redouble my efforts to empower women in the workplace”, she said in a statement.

Coale said Tuesday afternoon that there’s “possible litigation in the future” between Van Susteren and Fox. “I love my staff, I love my colleagues, and I love the crews”.

“And most of all?” “I was seen as a troublemaker who refused to go along to get along with a beloved teacher”. Van Susteren, meanwhile, took to Facebook to explain that she took advantage of that much-discussed clause in her contract allowing her to leave now owing to Roger Ailes’ exit as Fox News chief.

When Ailes resigned from Fox, Wallace described him to The New York Times as “the best boss I’ve had in nearly a half a century in journalism”, and said he “admired him tremendously professionally, and loved him personally”.

As part of the settlement with 21st Century Fox, Carlson was paid $20 million, according to a person familiar with the settlement who spoke on condition of anonymity because the terms were confidential.

Even at $20 million, the settlement is just half of the $40 million golden parachute that Ailes received when he resigned from the network on July 21.

The source also said that at least two other women reached settlement agreements with the company.

The Carlson settlement can not be compared with settlement of a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by a former producer against top-rated anchor Bill O’Reilly a decade ago.

“I hope to continue my career in broadcasting”, Van Susteren wrote.

Although the lone defendant, it is parent company 21st Century Fox – and not Ailes – who will pony up – a source telling Reuters Ailes’ contract indemnified him from employment-related claims.

“Roger Ailes was fighting the lawsuit, making very strong denials”. She had spoken on Ailes’ behalf in an interview with The Daily Beast in the immediate aftermath of Carlson’s lawsuit, saying she had known nothing of the alleged behavior, but later clarified those remarks, saying she didn’t mean to defend or condemn her former boss.
