The twin boys were born August 18 at the University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville. “We know it’s a long shot”.
“Our hearts are saddened this morning as our sweet little man was called home to be with Jesus”, Hawk’s family wrote in a Facebook post on a page created for the kids.
A photo of newborn twins hugging has captured the hearts of many people.
The photo showed the boys touching for the first time since they were born, embracing one another.
Hawk was born with the rare condition, congenital diaphragmatic hernia or CDH, which is a defect in the diaphragm.
Hawk and Mason were born last month and shortly after, Hawk had a few complications, according to ABC News.
Oddly enough, though, Brandy maintains that on the night the photo was taken it was Mason that needed comfort from Hawk.
“The whole ordeal is as bad as you can get”, Buchmeyer said. The original pic now has over 109,000 likes and over 6 million shares on the site.

“So we laid him there and all of the sudden as soon as he felt Hawk, he reached his arm out and grabbed him and just started to smile”, Guettler said.
