Trump, Clinton to appear in first-ever Commander-in-Chief Forum
Continuing with the national security and strategic policy themes, both candidates were to take questions from veterans one after the other in NY, but not come face to face on Wednesday.

A say Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are the worst candidates that their respective parties have nominated over the past 40 years, according to a new Huffington Post/YouGov poll published Tuesday night. Below: Trump’s full interview with ABC News.
Yesterday, the Dallas Morning News set the stage for its endorsement of Clinton, publishing a scathing editorial that questioned Trump’s conservative credentials. If she makes her medical records public he’d do the same, “100 percent”, Trump said.
The Houston Chronicle also threw its support behind Clinton in late July, calling Trump a ‘danger to the Republic’.
In a policy note, the Trump campaign said it saw building up the Army to about 540,000 troops, claiming that Mr Obama’s goal had been a military of just 450,000 soldiers.
The New York businessman, who has struggled at times to demonstrate a command of foreign policy, also seemed to acknowledge he does not now have a plan to address cyber security or the Islamic State group. Hillary Clinton has spent years in the trenches doing the hard work needed to prepare herself to lead our nation.
“It is a great honor to have such incredible support from so many distinguished retired military leaders”, Trump said in a statement.
Speaking to an audience in Philadelphia, the Republican presidential candidate slammed Clinton for advocating intervening in Libya in 2011 and accused the former secretary of state of possessing interventionist desires in the Middle East, though both candidates previously backed actions like the war in Iraq.
Donald Trump, 2016 Republican presidential nominee, speaks during the 2nd annual Roast and Ride hosted by Senator Joni Ernst, a Republican from Iowa, not pictured, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Clinton’s military backers argue that Trump’s proposed ban on Muslim immigrants would alienate USA allies in the Middle East.
Clinton’s campaign further released an ad this week questioning Trump’s commitment to veterans that features controversial statements the Republican nominee has made, including remarks regarding U.S. Sen.
He also wants USA generals to come up with a plan to defeat the self-styled Islamic State (IS) in his first 30 days in the White House.

But on Tuesday Mrs Clinton said USA voters “know they can count on me to be the kind of commander-in-chief who will protect our country and our troops, and they know they cannot count on Donald Trump”.
