The images of the burnt device were shared by a user using the Note 7 on Korean social media portal Kakao, which has been reportedly deleted now.

Samsung has told Reuters late on Wednesday that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 shipments had been delayed for quality control testing, and that shipments to South Korea’s top three mobile carriers had been halted.

Such converters have become notorious for failing to meet specs, leading to Amazon banning them from its online store earlier this year. That’s not always the case, though, especially if you reside in Belgium or Serbia and are looking for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. While the delay of the Note 7 shipments will have an impact on Samsung and sales of new Note 7 devices, continuing to ship defective devices would likely hurt the company even more.

Luckily nobody was hurt by the apparent explosion, and Samsung Electronics released a statement saying that it would investigate the issue.

Samsung’s latest device Galaxy Note 7 was launched globally on August 22.

If the exploding battery is confirmed to be true, it could be a massive blow for the tech giant, with Samsung relying on the sales of the device to maintain momentum in the second half of this year.

There have been several reports of exploding batteries in the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, and where there is smoke, there tends to be fire.

Some investors fear a repeat if Samsung can not move quickly to meet the surging Note 7 demand. Local reports that Samsung has stopped shipping the flagship phone are not true, according to company spokeswoman Sophia Kim.

Samsung Electronics sister company Samsung SDI Co Ltd 006400.KS said that while it was one of the suppliers of Galaxy Note 7 batteries, it had received no information to suggest that its batteries were faulty.

More worryingly for Samsung, is that the alleged glitch comes at a time when it had built up huge critical and commercial goodwill after a hard 2015. The Note series smartphones are one of the most expensive lineups released by Samsung and usually inherit designs and features of the Galaxy S series that debut in the spring.
