Braves undone by big inning vs Nats, end 6-game win streak
Braves rookie shortstop Dansby Swanson entered Tuesday night with a slash one of.236/.283/.273 through just 15 career games, but we’ve seen flashes of his vast upside.

An inside-the-park home run for a first career homer seems like something that would be pretty rare, but it actually happened last season.
His line drive to straightaway center field took a deflection off the wall and bounced away from center fielder Trea Turner. The ball caromed toward the infield, and Swanson slid home headfirst, easily beating the throw by right fielder Bryce Harper. But Swanson’s home run never left the yard.
Last year’s top draft pick in major league baseball has his first home run. James McCann of the Detroit Tigers did it past year and according to MLB.com’s David Adler, Swanson’s inside-the-parker was the 11th since 2000 that doubled as a big-league introduction.
Weber (1-1) allowed five runs in three innings, with all of the damage coming in his final inning.
Scherzer had gone eight innings in each of his previous two starts and allowed just two runs and five hits in his previous 16 innings of work. He also had an RBI single and an RBI groundout for a three-RBI night. Sep. Freeman pushed his hitting streak to 13 games with a single.
To me, that was the right decision made by Baker to get all of these players a day off.
The Nationals took the lead with a three-run eighth inning.
NOTES: Atlanta CF Ender Inciarte had a single in the fifth to extend his hitting streak to 16 games, the longest active streak in the majors.
Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo entered Tuesday night’s game against the Brewers with staggeringly good numbers against starter Wily Peralta.
Nationals: Washington recalled INF Wilmer Difo and RHP Lucas Giolito from Triple-A Syracuse.
Braves: RHP Mike Foltynewicz (8-5, 4.31) starts the series finale for Atlanta. Gonzalez has posted a 2.31 ERA in two starts against Atlanta this season.

Nationals: Strasburg (15-4, 3.59) will return from the DL and start Wednesday. Strasburg (15-4, 3.59 ERA) has not pitched since August 17 because of right elbow soreness.
