Despite being touted as the best offer yet for Indians in the telecom history, there are some points that you should know about the Jio Welcome Offer.

In 2003, the undivided Reliance had created a storm of kind by announcing monsoon hungama, offering wireless connectivity for an unheard price of Rs 501. To begin with, Reliance Jio will offer 10 tariff plans to choose from and data packs will start for as low as 5 paise per MB going up to Rs 50 for 1GB.

“We can transform India from a high price data market to one with the lowest data rates anywhere in the world”, said Ambani, promising cheaper tariffs and free calls within India and no roaming charges. He had also called Jio a “revolutionary” step to realize India’s digital ambitions. Later, the customer either needs to pay for voice or data services. It has also created a Jio Digital India Startup Fund and is also working to create Digital Entrepreneurship Hubs in key cities.

While Reliance Jio launched trial 4G services in late 2015 for its employees and those of its affiliates and partners, its commercial launch has been repeatedly delayed.

He informed that Jio Apps subscription worth Rs 15,000, will be complimentary to customers up to December 31, 2017. “Put an end to all voice call charges for all voice calls that are domestic”, Ambani said.

Telecom analysts said Reliance Jio has delivered a knockout punch on pricing of voice and data tariffs.

The data plans offered by the Reliance Jio network are again a force that rival telecom companies will have to recon with.

We had reported that Reliance Jio now has over 1.5 million test users on its network just over seven months since its test launch.
