Sony revealed that it will upgrade “more than half a dozen” first-party games with support for PlayStation 4 Pro-specific features. Apps specifically for the PS4 Pro is also being developed by YouTube and Netflix.

The new console is built around the concept of “forward compatibility”, which is described as allowing all of the past and current PS4 games to get a bump in graphical fidelity within the new console. Users who own an HDR-compatible TV will be able to enjoy supported games and other entertainment content with visuals that are more realistic, strikingly vivid and truer to the way the human eye sees the real world. He added that developers have been encouraged to create games that leverage 4K resolutions.

The trailer (downscaled to 720p from 4K) and screenshots below shows how the game will look on the upcoming console. The new model has as expected very rounded edges, size and a low weight compared to the original model.

There will be a great possibility that Sony will soon address regarding its future console, which is said to be an updated 1.5 variant of the PS4. Previously known as the PlayStation Neo, the new console has been officially named the PlayStation 4 Pro.

Sony insists that the PS4 Pro is first and foremost a gaming machine, but it could still have been another selling point for both the console and the 4K Blu-Ray format – particularly as the PS3 was instrumental during Sony’s format war between Blu-Ray and HD DVD. Apparently, the company did this because they believe that the PlayStation 4 Pro is “primarily for gaming”, according to The Verge.
