On the productivity side, Apple is bringing real-time collaboration to its iWork apps.

Apple typically gives its main product, which accounts for more than half of its revenue, a big makeover every other year and the last major redesign was the iPhone 6 in 2014.

At a special event in San Francisco on Wednesday, Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones.

Apple has abandoned the almost ubiquitous audio standard in favor of a single Lightning port; it’s also selling a pair of wireless headphones called AirPods for $160. Apple says the iPhone 7 is now force sensitive, so responses can differ based on how hard you press the home button.

Apple’s decision to remove the physical headphone jack from its iPhone 7 and 7 Plus handsets in lieu of AirPod Lightning-enabled headphones is “concerning” to 35 percent of consumers in Australia, according to a survey by industry analyst firm Telsyte. CNET reported that iPhone 7 Plus having two cameras is due to the fact that one is with a wide-angle lens while the other has a telescopic lens, which is capable of zooming up to 10 times. Preorders begin on Friday with shipping beginning a week later. Instead, they are outfitted with Apple-official wireless headphones, AKA AirPods. The new version is clumsily named Apple Watch Series 2.

What was lacking in Apple’s presentation, as has been the case for the Silicon Valley giant in recent years, was a new, can’t-miss hit like the original iPod.

Nike launched a version of the Watch at the same event.

In terms of design, the iPhone 7 and the larger iPhone 7 Plus are very similar to the iPhone 6S, featuring a slim body and rounded edges.

Apple made several overtures to runners and swimmers – and made pointed remarks about mobile gaming.

Apple today announced the debut of a new Ceramic Apple Watch, which is positioned as the high-end “Apple Watch Edition”.
