The lighter-weight version will hit the market September 15 and sell for $299, about $50 less than a conventional PlayStation 4.

Games shown on the PS4 Pro during the 45-minute event displayed the textual detail of the Spiderman’s costume, the vivid emotionalism and of Lara Croft in the popular “Tomb Raider” series and the intricate otherworldliness of the alien universe in the “Mass Effect: Andromeda” game.

Titled the PS4 Pro, experts say the console will be “ground-breaking”, as well as being able to render games with ultra-high definition 4K graphics, sharper than 1080p HD.

In terms of when gamers can get their hands on it, Sony has said that the PS4 Pro will be released on 10 November in Japan, North America and Europe and will cost €399. Then again, the bigger storage space and the two-fold increase in GPU power does allow the console to achieve graphical feats that were previously thought were impossible for current consoles. Developers are already working on adding software patches on current PS4 games to take advantage of the PS4 Pro’s upgraded hardware.

Showing off the PlayStation 4 Pro’s 4K gaming capabilities, Sony showed a showing a reel of 4K video games – including the upcoming Spider-Man game from Insomniac Games, as well as Tomb Raider, For Honor and more. The only difference between the original and the Pro model is how games will look and run.

PS4 has seen the fastest and strongest adoption since the first generation of the console was introduced in late 1994.
