When Apple introduced its AirPods on Wednesday, the company went on and on about the new Apple-made chip on the inside, but said little about the technology that delivers the sound to the wireless earbuds from the iPhone.

We’re finally about to find out what happens when an unstoppable design ethos meets an immovable port. Apple’s new iPhone 7 models come with two cameras, stereo speakers and no 3.5 mm headphone jack.

“The reason to move on [is] courage”, said Apple’s Phil Schiller in revealing the change.

Removing the pods from a smart case automatically connects them to your iPhone or Apple Watch, and tapping one while it’s in your ear activates Siri. “The courage to move on and do something new that betters all of us”, said Schiller onstage. In fact, the decision reeks as an attempt to force users towards the company’s own accessories instead of buying third-party headphones. On Sept. 8, Apple CEO Tim Cook proclaimed the death of the iPhone headphone jack and traditional headphones as we know them. If you want a waterproof phone because you keep spilling water in your backpack when your phone is in it, the new iPhone is for you.

Consumers can place orders for the iPhone 7 and the 7 Plus starting Friday and the devices will go on sale September 16 for $649 and $769, respectively.

A better light sensor should mean that grainy late night photos will look a lot clearer on the iPhone 7.

The new camera “system” is arguably the best new feature of the iPhone 7.

Both are available for pre-order September 9, and will ship out September 16. They’ll ship out in late October. The Apple Watch shares the launch date and carries a price tag starting at $369.

Apple says in just 18 months Apple watch has become the 2nd top selling watch in the world, and in ten years, Apple has sold more than a billion iPhones. Apple ditched the standard headphone jack in favor of their “Lightning Port”.

Apple obviously isn’t saying anything yet about what it has in store for next year’s iPhone, which going by naming conventions, will likely be dubbed the iPhone 8.
