Apple confirmed during the iPhone 7 event last night that the new-gen smartphones will sport wireless headphones, called AirPods. Users will either have to use wireless Bluetooth headphones called AirPods to listen to music, or buy a pair of wired headphones that plug into the Lightning port – now used for charging.

The flagship devices with boosted memory capacity will be sold at roughly the same price as the models they replace, starting at $649 for the iPhone 7 for U.S. customers, with deliveries in 25 countries beginning September 16. Users can access Apple’s voice-controlled assistant Siri by tapping twice on their AirPods.

Angelo Zino, of S&P Global Market Intelligence predicts another spike in sales when the next iPhone, the 10th-anniversary edition of the behemoth smartphone franchise, debuts as expected next year.
The iPhone 7 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display while the iPhone 7 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch Retina HD display.
The phone will come in rose gold, gold, silver, black, and jet black colours.

The GPS-powered Pokemon Go game has also arrived on Apple Watch. In addition, Apple said graphics performance is more powerful, running up to three times faster than the iPhone 6 at as little as half the power, enabling a “new level of gaming and professional apps”. The all-new Airpods get the Apple W1 chip, and promise efficient wireless communication. Apple also announced a partnership with Nike for the Apple Watch Nike+ with a Nike Sport band aimed at runners.
