Remnants of Hermine force city beaches to close Wednesday
A weaker Hermine edged closer to the East Coast on Tuesday, so weak that the National Hurricane Center dropped all tropical storm warnings and said it was issuing its last advisory on the long-lived system.

Post-tropical storm Hermine is expected to spin a few scattered showers into CT on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tropical Storm Hermine was still impacting the Garden State Tuesday as the storm system churned up water off of the coast.
In New Jersey, tropical storm-force winds could whip up on Labor Day.
Nationwide the storm caused three deaths, inflicted widespread property damage and knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of people from Florida to Virginia, the Associated Press reported.
Atlantic storm Hermine, which has killed two people, lurked off the middle of the U.S. East Coast late on Sunday while threatening to regain hurricane strength, after having spared the region the brunt of its wind, rain and tidal surge.
New York City officials kept all beaches closed Tuesday due to the possibility of unsafe conditions stemming from Hermine.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said additional beach erosion was possible Tuesday. A low pressure area is expected to form in association with the wave several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands in a couple of days.
NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said “As Hermine gradually weakens today we’ll see a breeze and a few scattered showers but that’s about it”.
Hermine rose up over the Gulf of Mexico and hit Florida on Friday as a Category 1 hurricane before weakening to a tropical storm across Georgia.
Scott said that the government was working to restore electricity at the earliest.
As of 11 a.m. EDT Monday, Hermine’s top sustained winds were steady at 70 miles per hour (110 kph) as it moved northwest at 6 miles per hour (9 kph).
Weather experts have warned that it could again be upgraded to hurricane, even as beaches remained closed amidst storm warnings.
On Saturday, high winds tipped over an 18-wheeler, killing its driver and shutting down a bridge in North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

The closure comes as a precaution measure as Tropical Storm Hermine enters the area.
