Damascus holds Britain responsible for Syria bloodletting

Another close call between US, Russian jets Russian fighter jet gets within 10 feet of US Navy plane Kerry, Russians meeting to hammer out Syria deal MORE and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet later this week to try to reach a deal on cooperating in Syria, Russian officials said Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, the ministry said that a telephone conversation initiated by the USA took place between Lavrov and Kerry.

US President Barack Obama held talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the G20 summit in China but failed to bridge their differences.

Rebels told the Financial Times that the attack targeted Al-Sukkari, a densely populated neighbourhood in Aleppo’s south. Footage posted on social media depicted civilians in a clinic in Aleppo suffering from intense coughing and requiring oxygen masks. Although Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah are no friends of the heinous Sunni group, they have as their top priority keeping Assad in power and in charge of as much Syrian territory as possible; they want to weaken other opposition groups first, including those supported by the United States, so they can then say “its Assad or ISIS”.

The initiative presented by the High Negotiations Committee [HNC], an umbrella of opposition groups backed by western powers and Gulf states, was released as the U.S. and Russian Federation struggled to agree on a deal meant to bring about a ceasefire.

Medical workers in the city have said the opposition-controlled neighborhood was hit with chlorine gas on Tuesday, though the report could not be independently verified.

Russian Federation believes that Turkey’s actions “could further complicate an already challenging military and political situation in Syria and negatively affect worldwide efforts to devise a settlement platform that would ensure a more sustainable ceasefire”.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry on Thursday said the British government is directly responsible for the bloodshed in Syria, state news agency Sana reported.

Moscow entered the Syrian conflict in September 2015 to conduct airstrikes against opponents of the Syrian regime. The Russian and the Syrian air forces are the only two operating over Aleppo.

In London on Wednesday, the under-fire Syria opposition fleshed out a proposal for a transition to democracy without Assad after a six-month negotiating phase with the regime.

It said: “Statements of British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson reveal his complete separation from reality and his lack of realisation that the time of the British colonial mandate will not come back”.

More than 280,000 Syrians have been killed throughout the five years of bloodshed, 4.8 million have fled the country, and 6.6 million have become internally displaced by the violence, according to the UN.
