Tim Tebow to Workout Before 20 MLB Teams

Tim Tebow is inviting major league baseball teams to a workout he will conduct in Los Angeles Tuesday to showcase his talent on the diamond.

We’ll find out soon enough as the Heisman Trophy victor puts on a showcase for scouts representing more than 20 Major League teams on August 30.

How impressive is the man who last played competitive hardball during his junior year of high school?

Relief pitcher Aardsma thinks Tebow should play in instructional league and winter ball.

While Johnny Football spends his time partying, drinking, and doing drugs, Tebow has made a career as a college football broadcaster, continuing to rake in the money in a football-related role after his disappointing NFL career.

Tebow’s tryout will draw tons of media attention and it will be easy to overlook the workout as anything other than a hype-driven event.

At its core, though, the Tebow the baseball player storyline is not serious. He says he could see the former Heisman Trophy-winner playing in Double-A next year.

Although a successful baseball career remains a long-shot for the two-time national champion, perhaps we shouldn’t be so quick to write Tebow off entirely.

With that said, Tebow could be a one and a billion type athlete. “There is a small chance a team might sign him so they can sell some more jerseys”, said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. NFL teams were very split on Tebow’s potential as a pro, but the Denver Broncos believed in him and used their first-round pick (25th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft to nab Tebow. That’s going to take a lot of work unless he’s got a good coach.

Tim Tebow on the baseball diamond apparently appeals to a majority of MLB teams. I cannot blame him for trying his hand at a new sport.

If Tebow shows any potential at all, teams would be insane not to sign him.

“After I threw to him, he took BP again and I shagged”, Aardsma said.
