Stanton, who has 25 home runs and 70 RBIs this season, suffered the injury August 13 against the White Sox on the final play of the game. They haven’t homered at home since slugger Giancarlo Stanton went on the disabled list August 14 with a strained groin.

Marlins: RF Stanton might be available to pinch-hit soon, Mattingly said. Jimmy Paredes had a pinch-hit, two-run single in the seventh.

“That’s what he knows he can do right now”, Mattingly said. Mattingly said. “Hopefully, he makes it all the way back to where we do see him on the field”. “But we do expect that to happen at some point”.

In Pittsburgh, Kang Jung-ho led off the eighth inning with a home run. Harris stayed on the grass for a few seconds for comic relief, but in the end there was again nothing for Miami to laugh about as the team’s fledgling playoff hopes took another hit.

Now the slumping Marlins will have him for the final 24 games.

This was the second bit of good news for Miami on Tuesday. Rojas left with a left groin strain, and his status is day to day. Suzuki scored on a groundout by Martin Prado.Ozuna doubled off the glove of Phillies third baseman Andres Blanco in the second and advanced on a fly ball by Bour before scoring on a sacrifice fly by J.T. Realmuto.Cashner helped himself in the fifth, hitting a leadoff single to center. Jeanmar Gomez pitched the ninth for his 35th save in 39 chances. The 29-year-old surrendered a total of nine runs on 12 hits – three home runs – and six walks over 10 innings against the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves in the last two turns. They rank last in the majors in runs, and managed only 11 while going 0-6 during a homestand last week.

The Phillies’ run total was their highest since August 14. Jose Urena (3-6) gave up four runs and seven hits in five innings for Miami, which is 11-23 since August 1.

“It’s a positive step in the right direction for me personally”, Esch said. “And I did, but they found holes”.

Right-hander Kendry Flores was designated for assignment.
