Truecaller and iOS 10 bring Spam Identification to the masses

This reduces the need to manually search for numbers of unknown calls after a call is left unanswered. Some important features such as live caller ID and real-time spam protection were missing from the iOS app. This will integrate with a brand new version of Truecaller app to display information and thereby tag calls as genuine/trustworthy or spam by identifying their sources. Because of restrictions placed on iOS earlier, the company was not able to work on the added features like spam call blocking and spam detection, but now with the CallKit exposure that Apple has allowed, they would be able to work on the feature, which in the end, will help Apple users dealing with unsolicited calls better. The caller ID firm has announced that iPhone will now be able to access both features. The new software is also bringing sweet goodies for software engineers with the opening up of Siri and iMessages, giving rise to hoards of opportunities for developers. The new update is expected to arrive soon. It gives app developers access to the call management system in iOS 10.

“Working closely with Apple over the past few months, we’re proud to bring a call solution to your iPhone to provide safe and authentic communication”, says Tom Hsieh, VP Partnerships & Growth at Truecaller in a press statement. “And with our dogged focus on data quality, we fully expect these rates to continue improving for the benefit of our users”, he added.

The company had introduced the Live Caller ID to its iOS app in May, but with limited functionality.

Pairing these new CallKit features with Caller ID and after-call notifications, which truecaller has improved from their earlier releases, makes this the most optimized Truecaller yet for iPhone.

It also pulls contact information from social networks when people link the app to their online profiles, making for more detailed info about incoming calls. As we are already aware the iOS 10 comes with a bucket load of features including a new Control Center, for the uninitiated you can check this out.

Truecaller will finally work on iPhones like it should always have
