Trump Says Putin Better Leader Than Obama in Military Town Hall

When asked if undocumented immigrants who plan to serve in the armed forces may be able to stay in the U.S., Trump responded, “It’s a very special situation, absolutely”.

Trump, who followed Clinton on stage after a coin toss, tried to make the case that the Obama administration had weakened the military over the past eight years. She vowed that she would allow no boots on the ground in Iraq or Syria to fight ISIS, ignoring the thousands of troops President Barack Obama has already deployed in both countries.

The New York businessman, who has struggled at times to demonstrate a command of foreign policy, also seemed to acknowledge he does not now have a plan to address cyber security or the Islamic State group.

(CNN) – Donald Trump stood by his past comment that military sexual assaults should be expected “when they put men and women together” in the USA armed forces during an NBC-hosted forum Wednesday night.

Shortly before the televised debates between the two leading USA presidential candidates begin, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump took the stage in order to answer the questions of former U.S. military members.

“When you compare her to Donald Trump, we believe she is the only serious contender for this position”, she said.

Trump also touched his bumpy relationship with various foreign leaders.

When Trump repeated a widely known and proven lie that he opposed the Iraq War from the beginning, Lauer did not call him out on it.

“I would certainly not do it again; there are no excuses for it”, she said.

“I think I would have a very, very good relationship with Putin and a very good relationship with Russian Federation”.

Clinton could also be vulnerable to Americans’ worries about terrorism – particularly the Islamic State’s designs on the West – and criticism that Obama hasn’t done enough to combat extremism emanating from the Middle East. She quickly faced a barrage of questions about her email use at the State Department, where she used a personal email address and a private server.

“I have made no excuses for it”.

Clinton said defeating ISIS would be her “highest terrorism goal”.

Clinton was also asked about her vote in favor of the Iraq war, which she admitted was a mistake.

“We did not lose a single American in that action, and I think taking that action was the right decision”, Clinton said. “He refuses to take responsibility for his support”.

On Iraq, Trump asserted that the USA should have taken Iraqi oil. While conceding she regrets voting for the war, Clinton seized on the issue to lay out “the totality” of her record.

Hillary Clinton went first and perhaps gave us a preview of how she will act during the head-to-head debate on September 26.

Asked what his own strategy would look like against the militant group, Trump declined to comment.

On ISIS, Trump was asked to reconcile his conflicting assertions: That he did not want to reveal his plans to defeat the terror group, and that he would give his top generals 30 days to send him a plan.
