Smart vehicles could be about to get a lot more aware thanks to a new breakthrough by Google. The sensors can identify any light that is either red or blue. As the United Kingdom law states, drivers are expected to park their vehicle at the next safe opportunity when police signals to stop, which can be in any case.
In case anyone needs reminding, California Vehicle Code 21806 states: “The operator of every street auto shall immediately stop the street auto, clear of any intersection, and remain stopped until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed”. Drivers must not obstruct an ambulance or police auto that may be engaged in a high-speed operation.
