New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is arguably the face of the NFL. But these are no ordinary times for Brady, who suited up against the Giants Thursday night and played the entire first half in what was essentially his farewell to the team for the next month.

Tom Brady got his final preseason tuneup in on Thursday before he has to serve a four-game suspension. Another game on top his four-game season-opening suspension? And play he did.

In Oakland, Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane also sat on the bench behind his standing teammates as the national anthem was performed before Seattle’s game against the Raiders. Brady will not be allowed to have any contact with the team during his suspension so these were very important reps.
