Minnesota’s Brian Dozier is on an unbelievable home run streak

Kansas City Royals’ Kendrys Morales, left, and Cheslor Cuthbert celebrate Morales’ solo home run off Minnesota Twins pitcher Kyle Gibson in the sixth inning of a baseball game Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, in Minneapolis.

ANGELS 10, ATHLETICS 7 Kole Calhoun hit a solo home run in the second inning, Albert Pujols had a two-run double in the fourth and Los Angeles held off Oakland.

Any way you slice Dozier’s season, it’s been wonderful.

MARINERS 14, RANGERS 6 Robinson Cano homered during a five-run first inning and Seattle knocked out starter Cole Hamels early and pulled away with a six-run sixth inning. This is partly due to the fact that Dozier is notoriously streaky and can disappear for months at a time, and partly due to the fact that he’s stuck playing in baseball wilderness with the Minnesota Twins.

Wily Peralta worked into the eighth inning and the Milwaukee Brewers collected 15 hits – including home runs from Jonathan Villar and Ryan Braun – in a 12-5 drubbing of the National League Central-leading Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night at Miller Park. And while Dozier is no stranger to putting up some strong power totals, having hit 18, 23 and 28 long balls in his past three seasons, but among the many things that could not have been predicted even just a few months ago, legitimately comparing Brian Dozier to Ruth and Bonds has to rank as high as anything in recent memory in regards to unlikely mid-summer outcomes.

“I feel like I’ve got to hand the ball off in the eighth inning”, Duffy said.

Morales finished the series against Minnesota with four home runs, six hits and 10 RBIs. McCarthy had a 5-6 record and 3.57 ERA in 47 relief appearances between Double-A and Triple-A this season. Matt Strahm entered with two outs and gave up a go-ahead RBI single to Eduardo Escobar.

Kansas City started the fourth inning with back-to-back hits, the second an RBI single by Morales that scored Eric Hosmer to tie the game. He’s making $3 million this season.
