Pokemon GO Is Coming to the Apple Watch

In the initial weeks of the game’s release globally, Pokemon Go APK was the primary source to access the game in India, but Niantic blocked the access through unofficial means. The final statistic he shared is that players have collectively walked 4.6 billion kilometers playing the game, and with this new Apple Watch functionality, that stands to go up in the future. This is exciting if you still play Pokemon Go, which has over 500 million downloads. “Thanks for sharing those stories, keep them coming”. Oh sure, it was splashproof, but if you made a decision to go for a swim and forgot you we were wearing it, it may have had a bad outcome.

Niantic CEO John Hanke stopped by Apple’s Apple Watch Series 2 announcement to show off Pokémon Go on Apple Watch. The watch edition of the game will place a bigger focus on player fitness, tracking the calories you burn in play sessions along with distance. Owners will then be prompted to launch the app on the iPhone and complete the process of capturing or adding the new Pokemon to their Pokedex.

The app is essentially an extension to the full game and performs numerous same functions as the main app. Players can press a button on the Pokemon Go Plus to throw a PokeBall at a wild Pokemon, but only if they’ve previously caught it before.

The watch app will also notify users when a pokemon appears, or when a pokestop is nearby – without the use of their smartphone.

The game uses augmented reality to help players discover Pokemon in the wild, allowing users to “see” Pokemon superimposed over real-world objects. Of course, you’ll have to still check the real game on your phone to find out what you caught.
