Giancarlo Stanton’s season is not over after all, and the Miami Marlins hope getting their slugger back provides a much-needed spark to fledgling postseason chances.

Philadelphia Phillies’ Aaron Altherr (23) greets Freddy Galvis at the plate after they scored on a two-run home run by Galvis during the fifth inning of a baseball game against the Miami Marlins, Monday, Sept.

Marlins: Stanton might be available to pinch-hit soon, manager Don Mattingly said. “But again, I talk about it a lot – things can change quickly”.

“I was trying to stay down in the zone”, Urena said. “We had a different lineup tonight”.

“We want better than that”, Mackanin said of the latter stat.

“He had a good mix of his pitches, fastball and slider, and he was effectively wild at times as well”, Phillies first baseman Tommy Joseph said. “He pitched to his game plan”.

The Marlins have dropped four in a row and are 11-22 since August 1, with their thin depth an issue as injuries mount.

Over on the Marlins’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Andrew Cashner on Wednesday.

Mike Dunn, Kyle Barraclough, A.J. Ramos and Austin Brice combined for hitless relief. The 26-year-old allowed two runs on three hits over 6 2/3 innings but ended up on the wrong side of a 2-1 final score. Freddy is having a heck of a year as good as he plays defense. He settled in after a two-run first inning and allowed just two hits in his final four innings.

The Phillies made it 3-0 in the third. He scored twice and kept a seventh-inning rally alive when he reached on an error.

Prado and Christian Yelich hit consecutive RBI doubles in the seventh off Severino Gonzalez.

“I wouldn’t say that I lost confidence – it did get tough there for awhile”, Morgan said.

The game’s first three batters got on base in the form of singles by Cesar Hernandez and Herrera and a walk to Maikel Franco. He is just the third shortstop in team history to hit 16 or more homers in a season, joining Jimmy Rollins and Granny Hamner. He needs two hits to tie Lou Brock.

“This is something that could give us a little bit of a bump, hopefully”, Mattingly said. Phillies RHP Alec Asher starts Thursday in place of RHP Vince Velasquez, who is being shut down because of an innings limit.

The Phillies are 4-0 in Hellickson’s last four starts in game three of a series, and 6-0 in Hellickson’s last six starts with four days’ rest. Over his past three starts, Urena is 2-1 with a 2.04 ERA. The two young right-handers went to high school 75 miles apart in Florida.

On Tuesday, he will send left-hander Adam Morgan (1-9, 6.21 ERA) to the mound.
