Mel Gibson slams ‘Batman v Superman’
It is one of his most celebrated roles, but Mel Gibson says he initially passed on the role of William Wallace, a 13th-century Scottish warrior, in Braveheart. “I think there’s a lot of waste, but maybe if I did one of those things with the green screens I’d find out different”, Gibson said. “It seems to me that you could do it for less”.

Just days after receiving a 10 minute standing ovation for his new film “Hacksaw Ridge” at the Venice Film Festival, Mel Gibson is turning heads by taking his fellow filmmakers to task. So I don’t know.
Gibson was talking to Deadline to promote the premiere of his latest film Hacksaw Ridge at the Venice Film Festival when the discussion turned to the current state of the movie business, especially the recent summer slate of films. It would seem like “Hacksaw Ridge” is his path to redemption, and it might pay well once it hits globally in November. Specifically calling Batman v Superman a “piece of s***”.
After being told the film’s budget was around $250 million, without taking marketing costs into consideration, Gibson said that “it’s a piece of sh-” and he’s “not interested in the stuff”. So I dont know. Real superheroes didnt wear spandex.
Critics have showered it with praise, and it now sits pretty with a 91% approval rating on reviews aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.
Gibson also mentioned that he was initially offered to feature in the movie as an actor, however, he also lent his hands in the direction as well. The film takes place during World War II and is about the first Conscientious Objector to receive the Medal of Honor and will be in cinemas later this year.
