If you are behind the wheel of a Mazda you may have to bring the vehicle in for service.
The recall includes specific variants of the 2010 through 2013 Mazda3 compact, and 2012 through 2015 Mazda5 vans, with other affected models including the 2013 to 2016 CX-5 and 2016 CX-3 SUVs. Also included are certain 2013 to 2016 CX-5 and 2016 CX-3 SUVs. More than 759,000 vehicles in the US and Canada are affected. Over time, water containing road salt can get into the supports, causing them to corrode and break.
Mazda reports that it plans to recall some 2.2 million vehicles to address a problem with their rear hatches.
Mazda will be notifying vehicle owners of the issue by mail in September or October, letting them know when they can send their cars to the dealership for fix.

The company says it’s adding the vehicles at the request of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Dealers will replace the latches for free. Mazda says it is recalling 4.9 million older vehicles worldwide, including 1.36 million in the USA, because ignition switches could overheat and catch fire.
