But Apple will be hoping people decide to shell out £159 for its new airpods, which look a bit like earphones but work totally wirelessly and contain a battery than can be charged up. You’ll need two forms of ID, plus a credit card and your Social Security number (they will run a new credit check).

And you’ll pay for that hardness. There are no monthly installments, no contracts, and no Apple Upgrade Program prices listed on Apple’s website. That’s a marked difference from Apple’s approach with the MacBook, buyers of which needed extra accessories to use their new laptop with older gear.
