Mark Sanchez Now A Cowboy; Romo’s Status Still Uncertain

With the 2016 season of the National Football League just around the corner, many are wondering how things will unfold for the New York Giants.

“I like the way the guys have come together”, Spagnuolo said Thursday. “Obviously, no one is naive when you lose your starting quarterback for some time, which it’s obviously going to be some time”.

I’ll lay the point with Dallas, but if the idea of playing this game makes you queasy, I’ll lean towards the over as well as it has hit in the last 7 games in Dallas, plus these games usually tend to be more high-scoring anyways. “There is a lot of optimism for Dak”. The Dallas Cowboys are getting ready for their opener on Sunday night against the New York Giants, and Silver Star Nation’s Mickey Spagnola has more from The Star as the Cowboys prepare for that game.

Sunday was the first day that the Cowboys could have placed Romo on injured reserve and the team opted not to do so.

Meantime, Dallas is expecting Prescott to deliver wins after he threw for five touchdowns without an interception and ran for two scores in three exhibition games.

Dak Prescott was drafted this offseason to be groomed as the eventual successor to Romo at the quarterback position in Dallas, but circumstances have thrust the rookie into the starting role in Week 1.

“I think you trust yourself and trust what you do”, said McAdoo. “I got a long way to go”. The pressure is not on me.

The Cowboys ranked 17 last season in total defense, and they’ll be without three key defensive players on Sunday due to suspensions (Linebacker Rolando McClain and defensive ends DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory).

After all, Sanchez was a rookie starter once, too. They think Romo will be back sooner than the eight-game span that would be imposed if they moved him to IR. “Some of the other things we can do that we don’t have to depend on that experience are there and alive in this team”.

Dez Bryant’s season is already off to a poor start, as the wide receiver suffered a concussion at a preseason game in late August. That’s right the Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles, and Dallas Cowboys are all going to start first year guys at QB.

The Dallas Cowboys have been known for making headlines when it comes to signing free agent.

When Romo was hurt August 25 against the Seattle Seahawks, the estimated time frame for a return was six to 10 weeks. Dallas has Brandon Carr, Orlando Scandrick and Morris Claiborne at the corners and Barry Church and Byron Jones at the safeties. They then released Mark Sanchez.

The defensive end also sat out the entire preseason in 2012 because of an elbow injury and was able to return for the season opener.

-The Cowboys are carrying two fullbacks in Rod Smith and Keith Smith and Jameill Showers has initially stuck as the fourth quarterback behind Romo, Prescott and Sanchez.

The immediate future for Tony Romo is now clear: he will not go on the short-term injured reserve list.
