NA-19 by-election to be held on Sunday

30 polling stations have been selected for voting through biometric machines.

Around 513 polling stations have been set up in the constituency where over 0.57 million voters are registered. Five candidates belong to political parties while rests of the four are independent. Runner-up candidate Raja Amir Zaman challenged the results in an election tribunal but the Supreme Court had upheld the tribunal’s decision.

To ensure a peaceful environment during polling, soldiers of the Pakistan Army had also been stationed in the constituency in addition to policemen, while the local administration had imposed section 144 to ban exhibition of weapons.

Haripur -Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Babar Nawaz emerged victorious in the by-election held in NA-19 constituency Haripur on Sunday.

The official said the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and a cellular network provider (Ufone) would render technical assistance in this regard.

Dr Kirmani also said that the PTI government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa had not lived up to its election pledges and it had miserably failed to initiate any project of clean drinking water and establish any educational institute or health facilities.
