West monsoon active in Bihar

Bhagalpur recorded the highest maximum temperature at 34.7 degrees Celsius followed by 33.8 degrees Celsius in Purnea, 31.6 degrees Celsius in Patna and 30.3 degrees Celsius in Gaya, Met office said.

Punpun was flowing 2 cm above the danger level in Sripalpur, Kamlabalan in Jhanjharpur by 3 cm and Kosi in Baltara by 1 cm in Khagaria district, as per the information available with the Water Resources department. However, the flood situation remained grim in Bhagalpur, Madhubani, Khagaria and Katihar as rivers in some parts of these districts are still swelling and flowing above the danger mark. The floods have affected 40.60 lakh people in 2,190 villages.

In Bihar, fresh casualties were reported from Vaishali district on the other side of the Ganga from Patna, the state disaster management department stated.

September 7: With the incessant rain lashing Bihar’s Gaya district, the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) carried rescue operations to help stranded people.

With the flood situation easing, the number of relief camps have come down to 181 where 1.15 lakh people continue to take shelter.

Light to moderate rainfall occurred at most places in south west, south central and north west parts of Bihar while one or two places of south west, south central and north west parts of the state were lashed by heavy rainfall.

Many places in Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka, isolated places in the Gujarat Region, Saurashtra and Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka and Kerala are likely to get rains whereas, the weather will remain dry in Telangana, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu.
