NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has finally weighed in publicly regarding the slew of on-going player protests; In particular, to 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s decision to protest standing for the National Anthem. “There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder”.

This announcement comes a few days after Kaepernick declared that he would be donating the first $1 million he makes this season to charities that he believes will help communities in need around the country. The star quarterback said he wanted to ensure that he was actively involved in helping communities. “I’ve been in this position before”. It’s the veterans that have reached out and said that’s what they fought for, that’s what they sacrificed their lives for was to give people back home under the flag, under this country, the opportunity to stand up or sit for what they believe in. My father was a military man, and you know, he protected this country.

“Once again, I’m not anti-American”, he indicated. And if I am fortunate enough to ever be dressed for another game day I imagine I would be doing the same thing I did in my last. Hopefully Curry’s remarks can help direct the debate back to that, rather than focusing on tangential issues. Others are still outraged over his “disrespectful” behavior and critical comments on the nation’s law enforcement personnel.

Bettors are already taking wages on how long into the NFL’s 18-week season he will continue, and whether the National Football League will take any action against him or the team if he persists.

On Monday, in addition to saying Kaepernick was “exercising his constitutional right” by refusing to stand for the anthem, Obama also said, “I don’t doubt his sincerity”.

“I think I will continue to improve and continue to get into my stride”.

Colin Kaepernick was encouraged that President Barack Obama recently weighed in on his national anthem protest by praising him for generating conversation about social issues.

In addition to outselling the team’s starting quarterback, Kaepernick’s jersey has more buyers than Joe Montana’s, who led the 49ers to four Super Bowls. The 49ers play their first regular season game September 12.
