Cincinnati police confirmed a bomb threat was called in and that the zoo was evacuated of staff and visitors, our media partner WCPO-TV in Cincinnati reported. The park was evacuated after a report of a suspicious package in Cincinnati. Lt. Steve Saunders says there’s no sign so far of a package.

K-9 units swept the zoo and found no devices or other threats, Saunders said.

The zoo planned on resuming normal activities Friday morning.

The zoo has become the focus of both real and ironic ire after a silverback gorilla named Harambe was shot and killed when a toddler fell into its enclosure.

Someone made a phone threat to the Cincinnati Zoo that prompted an evacuation Thursday.

The Hamilton County prosecutor concluded no charges were warranted after the boy scampered off from his mother, got through some bushes and fell into the moat.

Harambe’s shooting received worldwide attention, though in recent months anger over his death has turned into a joke for smirking social media users to make over-the-top tributes to his importance.
