We spoke to Canon India President and CEO, Kazutada Kobayashi on what it means to Canon when nearly all smartphones in the market are cashing in on camera as their key feature. Understanding the rapidly changing and ever increasing requirements of the imaging industry and professionals, Canon keeps launching more evolved and technologically progressed products.

Canon has officially launched the EOS 5D Mark IV in India. “With the launch of such evolutionary products, we foresee our numbers to grow and achieve a market share of 50 percent in the DSLR segment”. “Our robust retail expansion, strong brand equity and effective network management are pillars that stand testimony of our leadership position in the industry”.

Excited members of the British public could be among the first to see the newly-announced Canon EOS 5D Mark IV in action, as Park Cameras announce an exclusive event hosted by renowned wedding photographer Jeff Ascough.

One of the main features of the EOS 5D Mark IV is its capability to shoot 4K videos.

It has also got a DIGIC 6+ Image Processor.

Targeted at professional photographers and film makers, it will cost in the range of ₹2.54-3.24 lakh depending on the lens. Beyond that mark, there would be a significant decrease in image quality. The latest DSLR is sensitive to a wide range of ISO speeds ranging from 100 up to 32000, which can be further extended to 50 to 102400. Though adjustments are limited to micro level only.

It is capable of recording 4K videos at 30p or 24p.

Multiple video options include Full HD up to 60p and HD up to 120p. Canon claims that the footage shot in DCI 4K is adequate for cinematography and commercials. It also comes with the famous HDR functionality.

The 5D Mark IV is available for pre-order now for around $3,5000 (body only) with shipping to begin next month. For this, one has to download the Camera Connect app or one can just upload the images directly to social media sites. It also offers remote shooting, ideal for capturing unusual angles, landscapes or wildlife.

Built-in Global Positioning System helps in providing location and Auto Time Syncing with UTC Universal Time Code via three navigation satellites.

Canon also upgraded the weather resistance on the Mark IV, which is now immune to water and dust. Its exterior is protected with a rubber coating at all of the joint areas. The camera also comes with customisable touch panel functions allowing easy and user friendly navigation.

With the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lens, EOS 5D Mark IV is priced at Rs 3,24,995 and with EF 24-70 mm f/4L IS USM, it costs Rs 3,06,995. The body is built from a magnesium alloy for added durability.
