Trump, Clinton have work to do before debate

Hillary Clinton unleashed a torrent of attacks against Donald Trump’s preparedness to be commander in chief and questioned his patriotism Thursday morning, hours after an NBC forum exposed her opponent to criticism on multiple fronts.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday morning after a NY forum on security featuring separate appearances by the two candidates, Ms Clinton said the businessman was “inappropriate and undisciplined” in discussing his briefings from United States officials.

At NBC’s commander-in-chief forum Wednesday night, Trump was asked about his recent intelligence briefings and he suggested security officials specializing in Iraq, Iran and Russian Federation just aren’t happy with the Obama administration.

“Clinton said that terrorists are praying, “Please, Allah, make Trump president of America”, saying ISIS is “rooting for Donald Trump’s victory”.

Although he has made contributions to Democratic candidates, Elmets said he has never voted for a Democrat since casting his first vote in a presidential election in 1980 for Ronald Reagan.

Mr. Trump reiterated his praise for Russian President Vladimir Putin, who, he said, has an “82 percent approval rating”.

“It suggests he will let Putin do whatever Putin wants to do and then make excuses for him”, Clinton said.

For comparison, the Trump campaign said it and the GOP raised $80 million in July, but it reported receipts of only $36.7 million in the FEC report. However, in recent weeks that lead has evaporated, putting Trump in striking distance. The current average of polls by website RealClearPolitics puts her at 45.6% support, compared to Trump’s 42.8%.

But he front loaded Clinton’s half-hour at the forum with questions about her emails.

Only 37% of North Carolina voters said they have a favorable opinion of Clinton, while a majority – 55% – said they have an unfavorable opinion.

Lauer failed to challenge Trump on the claim that he opposed the invasion of Iraq.

Speaking about her own plan to destroy ISIS, Clinton said: “We are going to intensify our air campaign …give more support on the ground to the Arab and Kurdish fighters”.

The Today show co-anchor sat down with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump for 30 minutes each on Wednesday, and many people felt Lauer went after Clinton while allowing Trump to go unchallenged. “That’s not only risky but it should be disqualifying”, Clinton said. Afterwards, some of his supporters shrugged off his comments about Putin.

Meanwhile Trump fares better – though his numbers still aren’t great – as 41% of those surveyed think he is “honest and trustworthy” while 50% said he was not.

Clinton characterized these comments as “unpatriotic” Thursday morning.
