Tim Tebow signs minor-league deal with New York Mets
According to ESPN, Tebow will play for the Mets’ “fall instructional league team” in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Known for his Christian faith, kneeling and praying, Tebow became the Broncos’ starter late in the 2010 season, held the job for much of 2011, then was traded to the Jets.
Why is it such an affront to the baseball community for a team to take a flier on a 29-year-old mega-athlete who can run a 60-yard dash in 6.7 seconds and hit a baseball 450 feet (albeit in batting practice)? Another team besides the Mets and Braves interested in signing Tebow was reportedly the Colorado Rockies.
It was announced Thursday morning that the former NFL quarterback has signed a minor-league deal, which included a $100,000 signing bonus, with the New York Mets.
Tim last played baseball at a competitive level his junior year of high school, back in 2005, also in Florida. A former first-round pick of the Denver Broncos, Tebow struggled with his accuracy in the National Football League, completing just 48 percent of his throws in 35 career games. However, the network and ESPN announced shortly after the signing that Tebow could continue to serve as an analyst for the network.
“There’s potential for him to turn into something”, West Chester resident Nicholas Adams said.
However his career fizzled after spells with the New York Jets and the New England Patriots, before he was released by the Eagles in 2015.
“This is a classic player development opportunity for us”, Alderson said.
Tebow’s plan to shift his focus from football to baseball was made public in August.
“We think he can be a baseball player”, Alderson said of Tebow.
“Thankfully, I don’t really have to say anything to them”, says Tebow.
Tebow is reporting to the Tradition Field complex September 18 and will begin workouts the next day. We understand he’s 29 years old. “I’m looking forward to getting to work”.
If the Mets decide to keep Tebow past instructional ball, he’d best keep his head about him in the batters box.

“From the outside, I could see how it looks as a publicity stunt”, Decker said.
