NBC’s Matt Lauer Facing Backlash Over Presidential Forum Performance
John Yang has our report.

“I would never comment on any aspect of an intelligence briefing I received”, she said.
But, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump basically did the opposite, when he defended a ridiculous tweet about sexual assault in the military.
Pundits would suggest Clinton has plenty of ammunition to use against her opponent in terms of who is more qualified or who has the better temperament to be commander-in-chief.
“What I am focused on is all the other malicious activities of the Iranians – ballistic missiles, support for terrorists, being involved in Syria, Yemen and other places, supporting Hezbollah, Hamas”, Clinton told Matt Lauer, the NBC interviewer convening the town hall.
“I would certainly not do it again; there are no excuses for it”, she said.
In one instance, she had said: “Our decision was to put together an global coalition, including Russian Federation and China to exert the kind of pressure that the United States alone could not do”. And that’s a very different system and I don’t happen to like the system.
Wednesday’s forum served as a preview of sorts for Clinton and Trump’s highly anticipated debates.
CNN this morning had a panel of military veteran voters – one undecided voter, one in favor of Clinton, and one in favor of Trump – to discuss his performance on Wednesday night.
“How can you expect those such as myself … to have any confidence in your leadership as president when you clearly corrupted our national security?” “I opposed going in and I did oppose it”. “Classified material has a header which has ‘top secret, ‘ ‘secret, ‘ ‘confidential, ‘” she said, per Politico. “But I don’t take my advice and I don’t take anything seriously that comes from the RNC”.
“The generals under Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have not been successful”.
Clinton and Trump are both very much disliked in America: Trump is the most historically disliked candidate, with Clinton as the second most historically disliked candidate.
Mr. Trump reiterated his praise for Russian President Vladimir Putin, who, he said, has an “82 percent approval rating”.
She promised to support Iraqi forces working to take their country back from ISIS, but drew the clear line: “They are not gonna get ground troops”.
JOHN YANG: Half-a-world away, President Obama responded as he closed out his trip to Asia.
ISIS and safety: Asked whether she could guarantee that the country would be safer at the end of her presidency, Clinton said that she “was not going to promise something that most thinking Americans know will be a huge challenge”. And every time he speaks, that opinion is confirmed.

JOHN YANG: Foreign policy also figured prominently today for libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, though he may have wished it hadn’t.
